Yearify

Place the song in time.

Start with the team mix, set the generations, country backgrounds and difficulty, then let the room argue over the right year. The point is not just to guess — it is to place the song fairly against a shared timeline.

Set it up

Choose the right mix before the first song.

Every team can start with its own generation, country profile and challenge level. The host decides how much of the music should feel local and how much should feel global; the goal is a fair game, not one team being handed a worse playlist.

01

Build the team

Set generation, country and difficulty.

Pick the number of teams and rounds. Then tailor each team so its music pool reflects the generations and backgrounds in the room. Increase or lower the challenge level to balance the mix without making it feel rigged.

02

Play the music

Use the phone controller for one song at a time.

Open the controller on the host phone, launch the current track in Spotify, then put the phone face down. The room listens; the PC stays on the timeline. Yearify is one song, one decision, one reveal.

03

Lock it in

Place it before, between or after the years on screen.

Pick the right spot on the timeline. Correct placements stay in play; wrong guesses can end the run unless the team locks its safe years. The risk is part of the fun.

How it feels

Listen. Place. Risk. Reveal.

Each turn is simple, but the mix makes it memorable. The room hears the song, debates where it belongs, and only then sees the actual year.

04

Reveal

See the true year and decide whether to lock or keep going.

Once the answer is revealed, the correct year is added to the timeline. Teams can keep the run alive or bank their progress before the next challenge arrives.
